Community catch ups with Inspector-General for Emergency Management Tony Pearce have finished for 2022.
Thank you to all who gave up their time to join a session, and share their feedback.
More locations will follow in 2023 with details made available on our website.

In December 2022 the Inspector-General visited select locations to catch up with communities significantly affected by the 2019–20 bushfires.

The independent Inquiry into the 2019–20 Victorian Fire Season identified a range of opportunities for improvement to how Victoria prepares, responds, and recovers from emergencies.

Through their independent Fire Season Inquiry the Inspector-General made 32 recommendations to improve the State’s emergency management arrangements. The Inspector-General now monitors and reports on progress of departments and agencies with implementing actions in response to the Inquiry’s recommendations.

Eight informal catch ups were open to all community members to hear and share information about progress of implementation of the recommendations, and how Victoria is working towards being better prepared for emergencies.

Locations were:

  • Omeo - Thursday 1 December
  • Ensay - Friday 2 December
  • Mallacoota - Monday 12 December
  • Goongerah - Tuesday 13 December
  • Orbost - Wednesday 14 December
