The Annual Assurance Summary provides government with a high-level overview of assurance activities undertaken in 2016–17 and serves as a record of progress achieved by the emergency management sector.

Through this 'year in review', the Inspector-General for Emergency Management (IGEM) draws together Victorian emergency management incidents of note and significant assurance activities, providing a high-level picture of sector performance, risks and progress against Victoria's emergency management reform agenda.

The Summary does not make any recommendations or create any additional layers of reporting for sector organisations.

IGEM prepares the annual Summary in accordance with the principles outlined in the Monitoring and Assurance Framework for Emergency Management

The Annual Assurance Summary 2016-17 was published on 25 January 2018.
