The Inspector-General for Emergency Management (IGEM) monitors the Victorian Government’s implementation of recommendations from the 2015 Review of Performance Targets for Bushfire Fuel Management on Public Land.
In November 2015 government responded to IGEM's report, accepting all four recommendations including the adoption of a risk reduction fuel target.

IGEM reports annually to the Minister for Emergency Services and Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change on implementation progress.
The Implementation of recommendations from the Review of Performance Targets for Bushfire Fuel Management on Public Land – Annual Report 2016 was published on 20 January 2017.
